Microneedling

​Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. It involves the use of fine needles to create tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body’s natural wound healing process.

How Microneedling Works

A device with fine needles, such as a derma roller or a motorized Microneedling pen, is used to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface.
These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s healing processes, leading to increased production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins for smooth, firm, and youthful skin.
The micro-channels created by the needles also enhance the absorption of topical skincare products, making treatments like serums and creams more effective.
Preparation: Before the procedure, a numbing cream is usually applied to the skin to minimize discomfort during the treatment.
Device Application: The practitioner uses a Microneedling device to create controlled punctures in the skin. The depth and pattern of the needles can be adjusted based on the specific skin concerns and treatment area.
Duration: The procedure typically takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Post-treatment care 

Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from the sun for at least a week after the procedure. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and wear a hat or avoid direct sun exposure
Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, non-exfoliating cleanser for a few days after the treatment. Avoid scrubbing or using harsh facial cleansers.
Hydration: Keep your skin hydrated by applying a gentle, hydrating moisturizer. This helps soothe the skin and supports the healing process.
Avoid Makeup: Try to avoid applying makeup for at least 24 to 48 hours after the procedure to reduce the risk of irritation or infection. If you must wear makeup, choose non-comedogenic, gentle products.
Skip Harsh Products: Avoid using products with active ingredients like retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for a few days as these can irritate the newly treated skin.
No Scrubbing or Exfoliating: Refrain from exfoliating or using abrasive tools for at least a week. This prevents additional irritation and allows the skin to heal properly.
Avoid Sweating: Try to avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause sweating for the first 24 to 48 hours, as sweat can irritate the skin and increase the risk of infection.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help your skin stay hydrated from the inside out.
Do Not Pick or Scratch: Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the treated area to prevent scarring and infection.
